Last weekend my bestie, her bf, my bf, and I all took a trip up North to San Francisco so that Aiko and I could run the Nike Women’s Half Marathon with my other bestie, Maggie, and our friend Mary. We chose this race because you get a Tiffany’s necklace! Who doesn’t want one of those??? I have only been there once when I was like, 2 years old so it was pretty exciting for me. Also, Ban has never flown before, so it was great to see his excitement and enthusiasm for the sights he saw when we were thousands of feet in the air. Here are some of the experiences we had:
Ban’s picture for his first plane ride that he really seemed to enjoy!
He snapped this view from his window seat:
When we arrived in San Francisco we had to jump on the BART to get to our hotel.
The BART took FOREVER!! Where are the New York subway stations when you need them??
After getting off of the BART we walked out of a mall and saw this cool building
Once we took in the view of the city we immediately went to the Nike Women’s Half Marathon Exhibition to grab Aiko and my race bibs and packets (Aiko and Matt came on a later flight).
After that, Ban and I checked into the hotel and then jumped on the Cable car to go to Ghirardelli Square!
Here’s a close up view – I think the cable cars were adorable but a bit over priced ($6 per person for 1 ride). I wanted to ride hanging off of the side of it but it was full when we got on so we had to sit inside.
Ghirardelli Square was okay, but not as cool as I thought it would be. It was a bit of a let down because I hyped it up in my mind. Also, I’ve been to the Ghirardelli Factory at Disneyland and it’s pretty much the same thing as the one in San Fran… thanks a lot Disneyland! haha
(sorry for the blurriness)
We had so so so many ice cream options to choose from at the factory.
We finally decided on a warm brownie sundae (I forgot the exact name…) that looked like this…
It was as delicious as it looks! After we ate that bad boy (our “2nd” meal of the day and it was 5 o’clock… starving!) we walked on one of the piers to take some scenic pictures.
After our Ghirardelli Square experience we hopped on the bus and headed to the Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunately, we didn’t get there until dark.
We were very tired by this point and still had only eaten one solid meal that day. Needless to say, we hopped back on the bus and met up with Aiko and Matt to grab some dinner. We turned in after that because everyone was pretty tired. Aiko and I snapped a pic of our prepped race clothes, inspired by my friend Maggie’s Instagram pic.
We all matched of course.
And that ended day one!
